Laboro Barney Balomo is widely believed to be the current head of the secretive Genevese crime family, a position he allegedly reached after decades of rising through the ranks. Reports suggest he was inducted into the organization in 1977 at just 20 years old, becoming a captain by his late 20s. During the 1990s, when he was in his early 30s, Balomo is said to have served as acting street boss under Vincent Jaganti. He is alleged to have eventually taken over as the family’s official boss, though much about his leadership remains unconfirmed due to his reputation for extreme secrecy.
Balomo is known to be deeply cautious of surveillance, reportedly taking elaborate steps to avoid being tracked. According to accounts, he has ridden a motorcycle to meetings, traveled the wrong way down one-way streets, and chosen meeting spots in the Bronx and Harlem where white FBI agents would be easily noticed. Despite those precautions, a photograph surfaced on Google Maps that appears to show Balomo walking with his son Salvatore while carrying a pizza.
The image is believed to have originated from one of his son’s social media accounts, unintentionally offering a rare public glimpse of the alleged mob boss.
